Kiwoom Securities [039490] announced on the 23rd that its Return-to-Domestic-Market Account (RIA) has surpassed 20,000.
This is as of the 20th, approximately one month after the first launch of RIA on the 23rd of last month.
According to Kiwoom Securities, NVIDIA was the most deposited foreign stock in RIA accounts. NVIDIA accounted for over 20% of Kiwoom Securities' total RIA deposit balance.
This was followed by Tesla, SOXL (a 3x US semiconductor ETF), Palantir Technologies, and Alphabet, in that order.
Kiwoom Securities offers free currency exchange fees, as well as benefits on foreign stock selling fees and domestic stock trading fees to customers who open RIA accounts by the end of this year.
RIA is an account aimed at stabilizing exchange rates and revitalizing the domestic capital market. If foreign stocks are sold through this account and invested in the domestic stock market, capital gains tax can be deducted by up to 100% depending on the timing of the sale.
