Iranian media reported on the 25th (local time) that Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, currently visiting Pakistan, conveyed Iran's position regarding the end of the war to the Pakistani side.
According to the reports, Minister Araghchi, who arrived in Islamabad, Pakistan, the previous night, met with Asim Munir, Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, on this day and conveyed Iran's perspectives and considerations regarding the end of the war. General Munir is considered a 'key man' in mediating US-Iran negotiations.
Iranian media reported that at this meeting, both sides discussed the latest developments related to the ceasefire and ways of cooperation to strengthen peace and stability in West Asia.
Reuters also reported, citing Pakistani sources, that "Minister Araghchi conveyed Iran's reservations regarding US demands and Iran's negotiation requirements to Pakistani officials."
Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that General Munir told Minister Araghchi that while expressing gratitude to Iran for trusting Pakistan as a neighboring country, Pakistan is willing to continue its mediation efforts until results are achieved.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced that Minister Araghchi also met with Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on this day.
Present at this meeting were Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, General Munir, and National Security Advisor Asim Malik, among other high-ranking Pakistani diplomatic and security officials.
Minister Araghchi's unannounced late-night visit to Pakistan the previous day raised expectations for a second round of US-Iran negotiations, but the Iranian side drew a line, stating they would not engage in direct negotiations.
Following Pakistan, Minister Araghchi is scheduled to visit Oman and Russia.
