An analysis has emerged that Bitcoin (BTC) is an asset offering two investment effects for the price of one.
According to Benzinga on April 23 (local time), Matt Hougan, Chief Investment Officer at Bitwise, evaluated Bitcoin as an asset that simultaneously possesses the characteristics of a store of value and an emerging technology. Hougan defined Bitcoin as "an asset that yields two results with one bet."
The first element is its function as digital gold. Bitcoin is a store of value that hedges against inflation. Hougan analyzed that Bitcoin acts as a safe-haven asset amidst the instability of fiat currencies.
The second element is its potential for financial infrastructure growth. Bitcoin possesses the potential of a payment network and a technology platform. Hougan diagnosed that Bitcoin has the potential for technological expansion, similar to Ethereum (ETH).
Despite these characteristics, Bitwise judged Bitcoin to be undervalued. As institutional investors enter through Bitcoin spot ETFs, the asset's nature is becoming clearer. Hougan explained that the combination of these two investment attributes will drive long-term value appreciation.
Bitcoin is establishing a dual status as both a store of value and a technological innovation. Market participants are closely watching Bitcoin's process of settling as an asset class within the financial system.
