U.S. President Trump
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on the 21st (local time) that he would extend the truce until the Iranian leadership and negotiating delegation present a unified negotiation proposal.
In a statement posted on social media Truth Social, President Trump said, "Based on the fact that the Iranian government is severely divided and Pakistan's request, I received a request to suspend attacks until the Iranian leadership and delegation present a unified proposal."
President Trump further stated that he would extend the truce until Iran's proposal is submitted and discussions conclude in either direction.
However, President Trump added that the naval blockade against Iran would continue, and other readiness measures would also persist.
President Trump's truce declaration came on the day before the expiration of the '2-week truce'. President Trump had announced the previous day that the two-week truce with Iran would last until the evening of the 22nd, U.S. Eastern Time.
