Jensen Huang: "Next six months will be very busy... will spend 225 trillion won in Taiwan annually"
Computex to open on the 2nd of next week for 'AI discussion'... Representatives of global semiconductor companies to attend
It has been reported that the top executives of US-based NVIDIA and Taiwan-based TSMC, key beneficiaries of the global artificial intelligence (AI) boom, held an evening meeting to discuss cooperation between the two companies.
According to Taiwanese media such as United Daily News and Commercial Times on the 27th (local time), NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and TSMC Chairman C.C. Wei, along with other senior executives from both companies, met at a restaurant in Taipei, Taiwan, the previous evening.
Market attention was focused on this meeting, as the combined market capitalization of NVIDIA, the world's No. 1 company by market cap (US$5.204 trillion, approximately 7,828 trillion won), and TSMC, No. 6 (US$2.138 trillion, approximately 3,216 trillion won), amounts to about 11,000 trillion won.
CEO Huang expressed gratitude to TSMC, stating that the production of the new product 'Grace Blackwell' is progressing very smoothly and that next-generation AI supercomputers like Vera Rubin have already begun production.
He added, "The next six months will be very busy," and "Both companies are closely cooperating and will secure all necessary production capacity and component supply."
After the meeting, Chairman Wei met with reporters and, when asked if TSMC could meet all of NVIDIA's orders, stated, "We have already tried very hard."
The Taiwanese industry interprets this not as a simple dinner, but as the two companies' top executives entering a stage of cooperation regarding the mass production of next-generation AI platforms and the expansion of advanced processes and packaging.
An industry source said, "Key decision-making teams in the AI sector from both companies were present," and "This means that the speed of subsequent AI platform mass production, supply chain cooperation, and production capacity management have entered a high-level integrated operation stage."
CEO Huang previously held a so-called 'kkanbu meeting' with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun at a chicken restaurant in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, in October last year, and also met Chairman Chung at the consumer electronics and information technology (IT) exhibition 'CES 2026' in January this year.
He arrived in Taiwan on the 23rd, attended a local employee council event held at the planned construction site of NVIDIA's Taiwan headquarters today, and is scheduled to dine with prominent figures from Taiwan's science and technology community on the 28th.
AFP and Reuters reported that CEO Huang called Taiwan the 'center of the AI revolution' at today's event, stating that he plans to increase the investment in Taiwan to US$150 billion (approximately 225 trillion won) per year.
He said, "4-5 years ago, NVIDIA spent about US$10 billion to US$15 billion (approximately 15 trillion to 22 trillion won) annually in Taiwan," adding, "Now we are spending US$100 billion (approximately 150 trillion won) annually, and it will become US$150 billion." However, he did not specify a concrete investment timeline.
Meanwhile, at Computex, Asia's largest information technology (IT) exhibition, held in Taipei from June 2nd to 5th, CEO Huang, AMD CEO Lisa Su, and senior officials from numerous semiconductor companies including Intel, Qualcomm, and Arm are scheduled to attend and discuss the AI industry.
This event will feature a record high of approximately 1,500 companies from over 30 countries, covering topics such as AI computing, robotics and smart mobility, and next-generation science and technology under the theme of 'AI Together'.
The organizers stated that the total market capitalization of the participating companies exceeds US$10 trillion (approximately 15,000 trillion won), encompassing the entire AI ecosystem.
