Cathie Wood has once again raised her target price for Bitcoin (BTC), drawing market attention to an ultra-bullish scenario driven by institutional capital inflow and regulatory clarity.
According to crypto-specialized media CoinGape on May 26 (local time), Cathie Wood, CEO of ARK Invest, predicted that the price of Bitcoin could reach $750,000 under a base scenario and $1.25 million under a bullish scenario within the next five years. This marks an increase in the bullish target from her previous prediction of $1 million by 2030.
In a recent interview with Fox Business, Wood stated, “We believe that a shift in asset allocation towards Bitcoin and other crypto assets is beginning. The biggest reason is institutional adoption.” She cited institutional adoption, demand for a gold alternative, its role as an insurance-like asset, and demand from emerging markets as key pillars for her Bitcoin price forecast.
Wood also emphasized the possibility that younger generations might prefer Bitcoin over gold as intergenerational wealth transfer progresses. She noted that Bitcoin's role as a hedge against currency instability and corruption could grow in emerging economies, and that funds could shift from stablecoins to Bitcoin as global wealth increases.
This upward revision of the forecast comes amid ongoing discussions about the proliferation of stablecoins and U.S. cryptocurrency market structure legislation. Wood defined Bitcoin as a new asset class, asserting that all asset allocators have a responsibility to consider it. She believes Bitcoin can enhance risk-adjusted returns over time.
However, CoinGape reported that Bitcoin is currently facing selling pressure amidst outflows from Bitcoin spot ETFs, market uncertainty, geopolitical tensions involving the U.S. and Iran, and concerns about Federal Reserve interest rate hikes. In addition to Cathie Wood, other prominent figures such as Robert Kiyosaki, Arthur Hayes, and Brian Armstrong have also been mentioned as individuals who have predicted Bitcoin reaching $1 million in the next bull cycle.
