According to local media Antara, the Indonesian government has blocked access to the prediction market platform Polymarket. Local authorities stated that while Polymarket takes the form of a prediction market, it is effectively considered online gambling. Indonesia's Ministry of Digital Communications explained that betting money on the outcomes of future events such as elections, economics, and sports violates local laws. They also added that they plan to track Polymarket-related social media accounts and block similar platforms. Meanwhile, Singapore, Brazil, India, and others have already blocked access to Polymarket, and it is reported that Japan, China, Thailand, and others are also implementing related regulations.
