To file a complaint against the virtual asset associate appearing in the 'recording' for fraud and spreading false information
On the 21st, the side of Yoo Jeong-bok, a candidate for Incheon Mayor from the People Power Party, released three pieces of refutation data regarding allegations of omitted virtual asset declaration owned by candidate Yoo's spouse, raised by some media outlets and the Democratic Party of Korea, and announced legal action.
The Yoo candidate's election campaign committee (Jeongbok Camp) disclosed original photos of candidate Yoo's elder brother's handwritten statement, a real estate sales contract, and a bank transfer statement showing 500 million won transferred from the elder brother's account to candidate Yoo's spouse's account in August 2021.
This comes after candidate Yoo's side explained the previous day that it was 'not subject to asset declaration,' yet the Democratic Party leadership, following Park Chan-dae's side (Democratic Party candidate for Incheon Mayor), brought the allegations to the forefront and launched a massive offensive today.
Candidate Yoo's side explained that the virtual assets in question were purchased with the proceeds from the sale of his elder brother's real estate, and thus candidate Yoo's spouse could not consider them as her own assets subject to declaration.
Furthermore, they claimed that it was an incident where candidate Yoo's spouse, who intended to help candidate Yoo's elder brother who was ignorant about coin investments, was deceived by a person named Mr. A, who claimed to be a virtual asset expert, and suffered massive damage.
The three pieces of data released by candidate Yoo's side today are intended to support these claims.
Candidate Yoo's election committee explained, "The three pieces of physical evidence disclosed today support, with records from the state and financial institutions, that the source of the virtual asset investment funds indeed came from the proceeds of candidate Yoo's elder brother's real estate sale."
They added, "Based on the disclosed evidence, we will immediately file a complaint against Mr. A with investigative agencies on charges of fraud, spreading false information, etc." and "Jeongbok Camp views this matter not as a simple misinformation, but as a political manipulation involving the provision of data by a person under investigation, biased reporting, and the Democratic Party's political offensive."
Previously, the Democratic Party released a recording file containing a conversation between candidate Yoo's spouse and Mr. A, who is referred to as a virtual asset expert, and urged candidate Yoo's immediate resignation and the commencement of an investigation by investigative authorities.
