XRP Ledger sidechain Xahau has achieved a major milestone on its roadmap. With the introduction of blockchain-based payment infrastructure for Euro remittances from Europe to Ethiopia, the real-world use cases of the Xahau blockchain have been highlighted.
UToday reported on the 9th that XRP Ledger sidechain Xahau is gaining attention with the launch of blockchain-based settlements for Euro remittances to Ethiopia. Global payment infrastructure company TerraPay partnered with the Cooperative Bank of Oromia to launch a blockchain-based settlement service for international remittances entering Ethiopia.
This initiative supports Euro-denominated remittance flows originating from Europe. The Inclusive Financial Technology Foundation (INFTF) participated in the development process. INFTF and TerraPay collaborated with Ethiopian financial authorities to establish regulatory and technical frameworks for blockchain-based international remittance settlements.
At the core of this service is the use of the Xahau blockchain as the settlement layer. The official Xahau Network X account recently announced in a post that a major milestone on the Xahau roadmap has been completed. It also emphasized that the ecosystem, from core developers to fintech companies and banks, is collaborating daily to make Xahau a blockchain for tangible change.
UToday evaluated this case as demonstrating the expanded utility of the Xahau blockchain. It explained that as sidechain-based infrastructure within the XRP Ledger ecosystem connects to actual remittance settlement structures, the scope of blockchain technology's application in the financial sector is widening.
Other development trends related to the XRP Ledger also continued. The XRP Ledger Foundation recently announced a new team composition. Brett Mollin has been named Executive Director, Denis Angell as Chief Technology Officer, Rene Huijsen as Director of Operations, and Vet (Hussein Zangana) as Community Director. The new team plans to collaborate with XRP Ledger stakeholders to drive overall community and technological advancements.
Network updates also took place. A new version of the XRP Ledger, 3.1.3, was released, and this update included one amendment. Also, this week, Ondo, Ripple, JPMorgan, and Mastercard completed the first cross-border repurchase of tokenized U.S. Treasury bonds on the XRP Ledger. UToday evaluated this as another major milestone for the XRP Ledger.
