Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, has been selected as this year's Business Leader, recognized for his contributions to the institutionalization and innovation of the cryptocurrency industry.
According to Coingape, a cryptocurrency specialized media outlet, on April 25 (local time), Garlinghouse received the 2026 Business Leader of the Year Award from Harvard Business School. The awards ceremony was held on April 21 at the Julia Morgan Ballroom in San Francisco, USA. Approximately 200 industry officials attended the event to congratulate Garlinghouse on his award.
In a discussion with Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen, Garlinghouse emphasized that 2026 will be the best year for the cryptocurrency market. Ripple is recognized for its unique capabilities in payments, custody, and liquidity management. Garlinghouse stated, "We are exercising the right capabilities in the right market." XRP is expected to play a key role at the center of all Ripple's growth strategies.
An analysis suggests that XRP's potential is overwhelming even when compared to the capital inflow into Bitcoin (BTC) spot ETFs. Garlinghouse diagnosed that institutional investors' interest has not yet been fully reflected in market prices. With regulatory clarity, such as the CLARITY Act for the US cryptocurrency market structure, the market is highly likely to enter a new golden age. The combination of artificial intelligence technology and blockchain is also driving fundamental changes in financial infrastructure.
Ripple fully concluded its legal dispute with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in August 2025. Since then, it has continued aggressive global expansion, broadening its engagement with institutional finance. Recently, it has successively acquired major financial technology companies such as GTreasury and Hidden Road. These actions have increased the real-world use cases of the XRP Ledger while further strengthening the company's financial structure.
Garlinghouse's leadership is credited with accelerating the era of popularizing cryptocurrency assets. He has positioned himself as a bridge between traditional finance and decentralized finance. Ripple plans to focus on redefining global payment market standards based on regulatory compliance and technological innovation.
