The Block reported that Ethereum Layer 2 network StarkNet (STRK) has decided to review a plan to transition to an independent Layer 1 (L1) blockchain to prepare for quantum computer attacks. In a 7-day community vote, over 93.5% of the total voting power approved the study of the transition plan, with more than 2,800 wallets participating. StarkWare, the developer of StarkNet, plans to release a draft of the relevant white paper this November. The actual transition to L1 will be decided through additional governance votes. StarkWare aims to establish a security system capable of responding to quantum computer attacks by 2027. Even if the transition occurs, STRK will remain the native token, and there are no plans to issue new tokens.
