Cryptocurrency derivatives exchange BitMEX has officially ceased exchange operations after 11 years. According to CoinDesk, BitMEX stopped trading, deposits, and opening new positions from 4 AM (local time) on the 22nd, but users can continue to withdraw existing balances. Founded in 2014 by Arthur Hayes and others, BitMEX is known as an exchange that pioneered cryptocurrency perpetual futures trading. BitMEX announced its plan to terminate services in July after a strategic review by its parent company, HDR Global Trading.
