The European Central Bank (ECB) has launched Pontes, a service that allows blockchain-based financial transactions to be settled with central bank money, Reuters reported. This enables banks and investors to settle blockchain transactions with euro currency backed by the ECB, instead of private money like stablecoins. Deutsche Bank, Santander, and Clearstream are participating as initial users.
