A way has opened for XRP holders to borrow RLUSD on Ethereum (ETH) without selling their assets. An institutional lending vault worth $280 million has been linked as a means to secure XRP liquidity.
According to The Crypto Basic on August 6 (local time), Flare has integrated FXRP as collateral into Morpho Blue's Sentora institutional RLUSD vault. As a result, XRP holders can borrow RLUSD while remaining exposed to XRP price fluctuations. This is a non-custodial lending structure that can be used without a separate custodian or whitelist.
This integration has opened an independent lending market on Morpho Blue connecting FXRP and RLUSD. Users must mint FXRP on Flare's FAssets protocol, then transfer it to Ethereum and deposit it as collateral. Subsequently, they can borrow RLUSD within the loan-to-value (LTV) ratio limit set by the market. Sentora's main RLUSD vault holds approximately $280 million, making it the largest institutionally managed RLUSD vault on Ethereum.
Flare identified the lack of abundant stablecoin liquidity as a key issue hindering the growth of XRP decentralized finance (DeFi). After the launch of USDT0 on Flare, the total value locked (TVL) increased from approximately $37 million to over $120 million in just two weeks. Flare believes that connecting institutional RLUSD liquidity with FXRP will lead Ethereum's lending demand to drive FXRP minting demand through the FAssets protocol.
Hugo Philion, CEO of Flare, stated, “XRP is one of the largest assets in the cryptocurrency market, yet it is one of the least utilized in decentralized finance. Following FXRP making XRP a programmable asset, XRP has now become collateral approved by institutional risk management teams on the Ethereum mainnet.” Jesus Rodriguez, Co-founder and CTO/CPO of Sentora, said, “By allowing FXRP as collateral in the RLUSD vault, we are bringing the scale of XRP to decentralized finance and expanding its productive use in on-chain credit markets.”
Flare is developing the ability to directly mint FXRP from the XRP Ledger to Ethereum and Flare Smart Accounts. Once these features are launched, users will be able to borrow RLUSD directly from the XRP Ledger without separate bridging procedures or Ethereum interfaces. Sentora's collateral approval suggests that other Morpho vault operators may also adopt FXRP.
