A man in his 30s was arrested for driving a vehicle in autonomous mode while under the influence of alcohol.
Suwon Yeongtong Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 13th that Mr. A was booked on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).
Mr. A is suspected of driving his Tesla vehicle while intoxicated from a public parking lot in Yeongtong Central Commercial District, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon-si, to near Cheongmyeong Station around 0:17 AM on that day.
Police, who were dispatched after receiving a report of suspected drunk driving, blocked Mr. A's vehicle around 0:21 AM and arrested him.
Police explained that Mr. A was operating the vehicle in autonomous driving mode with loud music playing at the time of the arrest.
Mr. A's blood alcohol content was found to be at a level warranting license revocation.
Police are currently investigating the detailed circumstances surrounding Mr. A.
