Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament
In response to US President Donald Trump's remarks that the ceasefire in the Iran war is barely holding and that a resumption of 'Project Freedom' is being considered, Iran responded that it has completed all preparations for a response.
As Iran directly confronted President Trump's strong remarks, the precariously maintained ceasefire situation was once again engulfed in tension.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament who led the Iranian delegation in the peace talks, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on the night of the 11th (local time), "Our military is ready to decisively respond to any aggression."
He then emphasized, "Wrong strategies and decisions always lead to wrong outcomes, and the whole world already understands this fact." He added, "We are ready for all options, and they will be surprised (by our response)."
Ghalibaf also warned, "There is no other alternative than to accept the rights of the Iranian people as stipulated in the 14-point (peace) proposal." He added, "Any other approach will not lead to a complete conclusion and will result in nothing but successive failures."
He also added, "The longer they drag it out, the more American taxpayers will have to pay."
Ghalibaf's remarks came just hours after President Trump made strong statements fiercely criticizing Iran.
Earlier, in response to questions from White House reporters about the ceasefire with Iran, President Trump said, "It's incredibly weak, in its weakest state. It's largely on life support, and doctors are coming in saying there's about a 1% chance."
He also used terms like 'garbage' and 'stupid proposal' for Iran's peace plan, emphasizing that he has a very simple plan to end the Iran war and that Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons.
In an interview with Fox News that day, President Trump stated that he is considering resuming 'Project Freedom,' which was started and then suspended to help merchant ships escape through the Strait of Hormuz using US military power.
Fox News, reporting on President Trump's remarks, added, "President Trump said that this time, the US military's ship guidance in the Strait of Hormuz would be a small part of a larger military operation."
