Joseph Lubin, founder of Ethereum infrastructure developer Consensys, stated at the Consensys 2026 event that the global economy could transition to a blockchain-based tokenization system. He emphasized, "Tokenization has moved beyond the experimental stage and has become an inevitable trend. Ethereum is playing a key role in this trend. Technological maturity, including Layer 2 solutions, is attracting the interest of regulatory bodies and traditional financial institutions, and transactions within the ecosystem consume ETH, which is positive for value creation. As more economic activities move on-chain, ETH could also acquire monetary characteristics. Recent confusions, such as DeFi hacks, are merely disruptions in the process of technological development."
