The opposition party, People Power Party, decided to re-examine the taxation system itself. Song Eon-seok, a PPP lawmaker, pointed out, "There are criticisms that taxing virtual assets in a situation where the financial investment income tax has been abolished is not fair." Kim Eun-hye, a lawmaker, pointed out, "It is difficult to accept collecting taxes first when the taxation standards are not clear." Park Soo-young, also a lawmaker, said, "The National Tax Service is not sufficiently prepared to impose income tax on virtual assets." On the other hand, the Democratic Party of Korea has not yet issued an official statement. Previously, the National Tax Service announced that it is preparing to tax income from 2027 and for declarations in 2028, in accordance with current law.
